Academic Orientation

by enoxmyth on 14/09/2016

Hello everyone! In this post, I’ll be using English to polish up my writing skill in that particular language.

As the title literally states, I will talk about the Academic Orientation (AO) I’ve recently finished.

To put it simply, AO is basically a simulation period before we jump into the real college life. Most of the sessions held talked about the Basics of what we’re going to learn in our classes. As for me, since I am majoring in Game Application and Technology, I’ve learned about Pseudocodes and some basic C++ programming. To end the AO period, there will be a test for us to take. The test will be similar to the real college exam, and thus, we need to prepare ourselves for it. Of course, the test will only include things that we’ve learned during the AO period because it wouldn’t be fair otherwise.

Let’s not talk about the end test anymore, for there are still a lot of things for me to cover in this post.

For starters, I will talk about how I met my lecturers. The lessons were delivered by our very own lecturers that we will meet later on, and it’s pretty neat since we get to know them early. I think they are all still pretty young, and they also seem to be fun to be with. I’m looking forward to having college classes with them.

Next, I will talk about friends. You see, we are given a lot of assignments to do for AO, and some of them are to be done in groups. By grouping up with others, I automatically gained more friends. Personally, I think that everyone in my AO batch is more or less friendly. I don’t think there’s anything like bullying or alienation there, so it’s all good.

Third, I will pour my concerns. We don’t really get breaks between sessions, so we had to suppress our hunger and deal with the lessons. Although this doesn’t happen everyday and I didn’t get so hungry I might’ve died, some people might be suffering because of this.

Last, I will write about my honest review for this AO. If I have to rate it, I’ll give it around 4.3/5. Yes, it is slightly better than GO. I enjoyed the lessons and I’ve really learned a lot from them. The atmosphere is friendly and enjoyable, the lecturers are nice, and I’ve become more knowledgeable about programming.

I suppose I will end this post here. The next post will be about HTTP (HIMTI Togetherness and Top Performance) which was held last Saturday (10th September 2016). Again, thank you for reading. Have a nice day.
